Print This Page... Every Door Direct Mail: United States Postal Service

Businesses that are looking for an effective and affordable way to promote their products and services to their local neighborhood need look no further! Umbrella Graphics has teamed up with the United States Post Office: we do the design and printing - they do the distribution - for as little as 16 cents per address for the postage.

We've come up with a 4-Step System that is simple and straightforward. Click on the steps below in order to review the details of the program. If you have any questions, use our Contact Form or give us a call.

Step 1: Go to USPS.com and decide how many postcards you need.

  • Go to USPS.com's Business Solutions > Try Every Door Direct Mail.
  • If you are not already logged in you will need to enter your Username and Password or Sign Up for a USPS.com account by clicking the "Sign In Now" link. Follow the instructions on the screen. Once you login or create an account you will be redirected to the EDDM order page.
  • Enter a single address to locate your farm or preferred area. Use the dynamic map to select route(s) you want. This will provide you with the number of addresses in your route(s) and your mailing cost. Make sure you check "Residential Only" to save cost. Then click "Continue".
  • You will be prompted to select an Expected Drop Off Date. Pick any date in the future (it doesn't matter for now). This will display the Confirmation Summary. Click the save "Save for Later" link at the bottom of the box.

Step 2: Return to UmbrellaGraphics.com and use our Quote Request Form to place your order.

  • Go to www.UmbrellaGraphics.com. Use the Quote Request Form to place your order.
  • We will call you to ask any questions related to your design. Then we will send back the proof of your postcard usually within one to two business days.
  • Upon approval, you will pay for your printing order (by credit card or check). You will receive an Estimated Delivery Date upon receipt of order.

Step 3: Go back to USPS.com and schedule your mailing.

  • Now that you have an Estimated Delivery Date, you can return to www.USPS.com to complete your mailing order. Login and return to the dynamic map. Then click Saved Orders and click Resume Order next to the order you would like to complete. Enter the same routes as before in Step 1. Click the "Continue" button.
  • You'll be prompted to choose your Expected Drop Off Date. This is the tricky part!
    - Start with the Delivery Date given to you by Umbrella Graphics. If you have ordered the Bundling and Delivery Service you will be given the approximate date when your postcards will be delivered to your Designated Post Office, bundled, labeled and ready to mail.
    - Or, if the postcards are being delivered to you for handling, you must add however many days it will take for you to bundle your postcards in groups of 50, affix the Facing Slips (see Step 4 below), and deliver the bundles to your Designated Post Office.
    - However, you can also schedule the distribution of your postcards to be AFTER the date the cards arrive at the post office. Pick any delivery date you want.
  • Once you've entered the date, you'll be given a Confirmation Summary.
  • You should pay for your EDD mail order immediately using the Pay Online option (this will help you avoid lines at the Post Office - sometimes, you even have to pay at one location and drop off at another). However, if you want to deliver the finished bundles in person, you can pay at your Designated Post Office when you drop them off.

Step 4: Deliver bundled and labeled postcards to your Designated Post Office.

  • Once you've selected your payment choice, you will see the "Thank You for Your Order" screen. Click on the "Print All Forms Now" button. The system will generate a printable PDF which includes Form #3587-B (2 pages), as well as the Facing Slip. You can print out multiple copies of the Facing Slip, or make Xerox copies of it.
  • If you are requesting our Bundling and Delivery Service, you need to email us a copy of those forms! Go up to the "File" menu at the top of your screen, and choose "Save as..." to save a copy of that PDF to your computer. Email that PDF to us at [email protected].
  • If you are doing your own bundling and delivery, you must affix a Facing Slip on each of the bundles in your order.
  • Each Facing Slip must include the following information: Zip Code, Route Number, Delivery Type, Date (when you will drop off at the post office), Total Pieces (50 in each bundle and the number in your final partial bundle), Total Number of Bundles (for example, 1 of 10, 2 of 10, 3 of 10, etc.). Fold each sheet in half and affix to each bundle.
  • The FIRST BUNDLE must include a copy of Form #3587-B and a Facing Slip with a list of the Do Not Deliver Addresses (these are residents from your farm that have contacted you and asked to be removed from your mailing list.)
